Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Quincy's 12th in Last 13 Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Quincy had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Portola Tigers as they made off with a 14-4 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jemma Trueblood made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Gay, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Adrian Goulet, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Quincy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Portola only posted a batting average of .211.

Quincy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Portola, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-11-1 record this season.

Quincy and Portola are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Trojans will square off against East Nicolaus at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Quincy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Portola, they will take on Mt. Shasta at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
