Baseball Game Preview: Red Mountain Mountain Lions vs. Boulder Creek Jaguars

The Red Mountain Mountain Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Boulder Creek Jaguars at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Red Mountain is leaving town to face Boulder Creek after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Red Mountain fell 6-3 to Hamilton on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Mountain Lions in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now lost five in a row.

Preston Peebles was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits.

At the plate, Red Mountain saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cyrus Ellington, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Boulder Creek had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out Higley 3-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Jaguars as it spelled an end to their 18-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Jake Parks was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
