Basketball Recap: East Marion Takes a Loss

East Marion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Lumberton Panthers, falling 62-12. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Panthers are ranked 132nd).

East Marion got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Caubrei Andrews and Kylie Watts, who each put up six points. Watts also led the team in rebounds with seven. Natalee Dillon took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

East Marion's loss dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Lumberton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

East Marion will head out on the road to challenge Enterprise at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Lumberton, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Lumberton Panthers face off against the Salem Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lumberton's defense has only allowed 29.5 points per game this season, so Salem's offense will have their work cut out for them.
