Basketball Recap: Wheeler County Falls Despite Big Games from Caymira Parker and Makaylin Harvey

Wheeler County lost against Hawkinsville back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wheeler County Bulldogs took a 39-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawkinsville Red Devils. The Bulldogs just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Despite the loss, Wheeler County had strong showings from Makaylin Harvey, who posted six points and 11 boards, and CayMira Parker, who scored five points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals. That's the most boards Harvey has posted since back in November of 2024.

Alicia Newman had a dynamite game for Hawkinsville, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Kyla Slocumb was another key player, putting up nine points along with six assists and six steals.

Wheeler County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Hawkinsville, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-17.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheeler County will take on Montgomery County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hawkinsville, they will square off against Dooly County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hawkinsville is facing Dooly County at the right time seeing as Dooly County is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
