Basketball Game Preview: Northwestern Bulls vs. Evans Trojans

The Northwestern Bulls will be taking part in a tournament against the Evans Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Northwestern's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Northwestern is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Kell, who was ranked 15th in their home state at the time (Northwestern was ranked seventh). Northwestern blew past Kell 89-55 on Saturday. The Bulls have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 34 points or more this season.

Calvin Russell Jr. was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 10 en route to 22 points along with six assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamiro Smith, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 18 points.

Meanwhile, Evans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They received a blow as they fell 74-56 to Windermere. The game marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Evans' loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2. As for Northwestern, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1.
