Softball Recap: Glenbrook South Find Success

Glenbrook South was handed a 13-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Elmwood Park Tigers 3-2.

Lauren Nicgorski spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Glenbrook South saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Buckingham, who went 3-for-4 with one run. That's the most hits Buckingham has posted over her last nine contests. Alex Hafeman was another, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base.

Glenbrook South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Glenbrook South's win bumped their record up to 4-18. As for Elmwood Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Glenbrook South will take on Maine South at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Elmwood Park, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Palatine on the 3rd.
