Basketball Recap: Avery Bigelow's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Morehead over West Stokes

If Morehead was riding high fresh off their 73-34 takedown of Bethany Community two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Morehead Panthers fell 61-53 to the West Stokes Wildcats on Friday. The Panthers have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Morehead lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Avery Bigelow, who went 5 of 8 en route to 16 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Thomas, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 19 points.

Morehead's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for West Stokes, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morehead will challenge McMichael at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Stokes, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Starmount at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. West Stokes is facing Starmount at the right time seeing as Starmount is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
