Football Recap: Kenwood Drops Highest Score of Season Against Maplewood + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kenwood). Everything went their way against the Maplewood Panthers on Friday as they made off with a 37-12 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

It was another big night for Christian James, who rushed for 227 yards and four scores on only nine carries, and also threw for 75 yards and one TD. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 116.6 rushing yards per game.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Kenwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 307 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Despite the loss, Maplewood still got an impressive performance from Jamarious Mays, who rushed for 97 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 191 yards and one TD. Mays was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards.

Kenwood now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Maplewood, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Kenwood has already played their next matchup, a 24-0 victory against Northeast on the 9th. As for Maplewood, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-12 win against Whites Creek on the 9th.
