Basketball Recap: Cristo Rey Comes Up Short

Cristo Rey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 21st straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the New Hope Christian Academy Statesmen, falling 73-39. The Cougar were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-20.

When it comes to explaining why Cristo Rey lost, don't look at Nate Getahun. Despite the final result, he posted 23 points. The contest was Getahun's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Croom, who scored eight points.

Cristo Rey's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for New Hope Christian Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Cristo Rey wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 54-51 loss against Academy for Urban Scholars on the 16th. New Hope Christian Academy has also already played their next game, a 54-35 win against Notre Dame on the 18th.
