Softball Game Preview: Wekiva Mustangs vs. Dr. Phillips Panthers

The Wekiva Mustangs will take on the Dr. Phillips Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Wekiva came up short against Windermere Prep on Wednesday, falling 16-1.

Meanwhile, Dr. Phillips came up short against Cypress Creek on Tuesday and fell 5-2. The loss was the Panthers' first of the season.

Samantha Rome made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 4-for-4.

Even though they lost, Dr. Phillips kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Wekiva now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Dr. Phillips, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
