Basketball Recap: Hunt Warriors vs. Southern Wayne Saints

You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Hunt Warriors's strategy against the Southern Wayne Saints on Friday. Hunt blew past the Saints 55-30. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Hunt had established a 20 point advantage.

Hunt got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ti'asia Taylor out in front who scored 22 points along with six steals. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracelynn Wolzen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

Several Saints players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nevaeh Hines-Bass, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 50% of Southern Wayne's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Southern Wayne struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Hunt pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.

Hunt has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Southern Wayne, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

East Wake and the Warriors are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. As for Southern Wayne, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m.
