Baseball Recap: Randle Gets the Win

Randle proved they can win big last Friday (they won by eight) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Fort Bend Kempner Cougars 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since March 7th.

Randle's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jaeden Humphrey, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Humphrey is becoming a predictor of the Lions' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 11-12-2 when he doesn't).

Randle pushed their record up to 16-12-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Fort Bend Kempner, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-15-1.

Randle will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
