Volleyball Recap: Cascade Takes a Loss

Cascade entered their contest against Greencastle on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cadets fell 3-1 to the Tiger Cubs. The Cadets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tiger Cubs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Cascade started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-17, 25-8, 25-22.

Allie Weigle paced Cascade's offense, picking up 15 kills. Weigle got some help from Lacie Godby and her 29 assists. Izzy Guetig controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Leading Greencastle to victory were Janae Greenlee and Ellie Knuth. Greenlee had nine digs and three aces, while Knuth had five digs and one assist. That's the most digs Greenlee has posted since back in August of 2024.

Cascade's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-5. As for Greencastle, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Coming up, Cascade will face off against Parke Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Greencastle, they will take on North Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
