Basketball Preview: Bell Bulldogs vs. Union County Fightin' Tigers
Bell and the Fightin' Tigers are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Bell Bulldogs will square off against the Union County Fightin' Tigers at TBD on Tuesday. Bell is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Bell beat the Sharks 41-35.
Meanwhile, Union County pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their rough 77-55 defeat to The Rock might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Union County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 463rd, while the Lions are ranked 28th).
Union County's loss came about despite a quality game from Gavin Jenkins, who scored 19 points along with seven steals and two blocks. Johnte Nichols was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Bell's win ended a ten-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-21. As for Union County, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
Bell was taken down by the Fightin' Tigers 70-42 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Bell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
