Baseball Recap: Melrose Takes a Loss

Melrose had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 5-7 to make it four. They fell 9-4 to the Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 back in April.

As for Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 14-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.3 runs this season.

For Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta's part, Alex Asmus was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Asmus a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andrew Marty, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Melrose will take on Sauk Centre at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mainstreeters will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta, they will challenge Benson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
