Gatewood had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They claimed a resounding 76-44 victory over the John Hancock Academy Rebels. The Gators pushed the score to 68-32 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rebels cut but never quite recovered from.

Bennett Haley had a dynamite game, shooting 50% from the field on his way to 23 points along with six assists and five steals. Landon Moreno was another key player, going 7-for-8 en route to 16 points and three steals.

Gatewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Gatewood will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Augusta Prep at 6:30 p.m. on December 2. John Hancock Academy has already played their next matchup (against Westminster Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
