Soccer Game Preview: Hargrave vs. Lumberton

The Hargrave Falcons will face off against the Lumberton Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hargrave is coming into the game on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They were the clear victor by a 5-1 margin over Liberty two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Lumberton had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 goals) and they went ahead and made it 15 on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Bruins a 2-0 shutout. Give the Raiders' defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Lumberton pushed their record up to 17-3-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those seven contests. As for Hargrave, their win bumped their record up to 5-10-2.

Hargrave might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Lumberton in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Hargrave avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
