Volleyball Game Preview: Frontier Regional Red Hawks vs. Longmeadow Lancers

The Frontier Regional Red Hawks will challenge the Longmeadow Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Frontier Regional turned things around against Belchertown on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Orioles.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-21, 21-25, 25-22.

Frontier Regional found their leader in freshman Evan Maio, who had 14 digs and two assists. Those 14 digs set a new season-high mark for Maio.

Longmeadow extended their home winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Chris Bousquet. The Lancers put the hurt on Putnam Vo-Tech with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday for which the team can thank Bousquet, who had 16 digs and six aces. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 aces per game.

One reason for the win was Longmeadow's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-14, 25-12.

Frontier Regional's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Longmeadow, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's game: Frontier Regional has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Longmeadow struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
