Recap: Hillcrest Hornets vs. Parkview Vikings
The Hillcrest Hornets's four-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. Everything went their way against Parkview as Hillcrest made off with a 59-39 victory. For Hillcrest, this counts as revenge for the 61-27 loss Parkview walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Parkview's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklynn Masten, who scored 11 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Masten scored a full 28.2% of Parkview's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Hall, who scored 15 points.
Hillcrest's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Parkview, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillcrest will take on West Plains at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. West Plains presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hillcrest in Missouri (West Plains is ranked 129th, while Hillcrest is ranked 307th). As for Parkview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kickapoo at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Kickapoo is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
