Basketball Game Preview: The Pinnacle Timberwolves vs. Fort Lupton Bluedevils

The Pinnacle is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Fort Lupton is on a 13-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Pinnacle Timberwolves will welcome the Fort Lupton Bluedevils at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

On Saturday, everything came up roses for The Pinnacle against STEM School Highlands Ranch as the squad secured a 76-27 victory. The Timberwolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Lupton). They claimed a resounding 89-49 win over Lake County. Given the Bluedevils' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Panthers are ranked 291st), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fort Lupton's win came from a few key players The Pinnacle will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Javon Gonzales, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 21 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Guillaume Nkiadiambu, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards.

Fort Lupton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Fort Lupton is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for The Pinnacle, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.

The Pinnacle was dealt a bruising 72-28 loss at the hands of Fort Lupton when the teams last played back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Gonzales, who almost dropped a triple-double on 15 points, nine assists, and 11 steals.
