Volleyball Game Preview: Chesterton Trojans vs. Merrillville Pirates

The Chesterton Trojans will head out to face off against the Merrillville Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Chesterton is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Chesterton picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They came out on top against Portage by a score of 2-0.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Chesterton took both sets by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-7.

Meanwhile, Merrillville came up short against Lake Central on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Pirates have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-20, 25-13.

Chesterton pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Merrillville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Chesterton couldn't quite get it done against Merrillville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
