Basketball Recap: Fountain Inn Takes a Loss

Fountain Inn lost against Wren back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Fountain Inn Fury fell 56-47 to the Wren Hurricanes. While losing is never fun, the Fury can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Hurricanes are ranked ninth).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wren to victory, but perhaps none more so than Abijah Franklin, who posted 20 points along with eight boards and four steals. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which Franklin has scored at least a third of Wren's points. Brock Cherry was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds.

Fountain Inn's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Wren, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fountain Inn will host Emerald at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th. As for Wren, they will challenge Laurens at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Wren's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
