Baseball Recap: Kolbe-Cathedral Takes a Loss

Kolbe-Cathedral extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 5-3 in the process. They lost 17-1 to the New Milford Green Wave. The Cougars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Green Wave from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for New Milford, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The result was nothing new for the Green Wave, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

For New Milford's part, Nate Bollaro looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gianni Barberio, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season. Danny Reid was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Coming up, Kolbe-Cathedral will face off against Thomaston at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for New Milford, they will welcome Bethel at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
