Basketball Preview: McLoud Redskins vs. Bethel Wildcats
The McLoud Redskins will head out on the road to face off against the Bethel Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McLoud has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 246 points over their last four contests.
McLoud pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tecumseh. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as McLoud came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Savages are ranked 248th).
Meanwhile, Bethel's game on Thursday was all tied up 32-32 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Holdenville and snuck past 55-53. The victory was just what Bethel needed coming off of a 55-31 defeat in their prior match.
McLoud has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-5 record this season. As for Bethel, they pushed their record up to 7-11 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
McLoud was able to grind out a solid victory over the Wildcats when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 66-53. Will McLoud repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
