Game recap: Clinton High School Football Team wins against Southaven

CLINTON, Miss. - Southaven (Miss.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 22 in Mississippi, but was stunned by Clinton (Miss.), 31-7. Clinton was ranked at No. 59 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Mississippi coming into the week.

After taking the lead on a touchdown in the first quarter, the Arrows led 8-0 at the half.

Clinton expanded its lead to 11 points entering the fourth quarter. CHS scored two times in the third, including once on a field goal.

A 13-point fourth quarter was enough to cement the win for the Arrows, as they pushed the final margin of victory to 24.

The Chargers' Shea Chism played well. He threw one touchdown.

Khalil Finch stood out for Clinton in the win. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.



Southaven's lone touchdown came on a 45-yard pass from Chism to Hunter Bull in the third quarter.

SHS came in surrendering 17.5 points per game this season. The Chargers struggled against CHS's offense, which entered the game scoring 19.0 points per game. The Arrows entered the contest giving up 20.8 points per game this year.

The defeat comes as a step back for Southaven, which notched a 29-6 victory over Horn Lake in its previous outing. The loss snapped Southaven's 2-game winning streak.
