Preview: Wawasee Warriors vs. South Bend Riley Wildcats
The Wawasee Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the South Bend Riley Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wawasee is out to stop a nine-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
Last Thursday, Wawasee lost to Mishawaka on the road by a decisive 41-22 margin. While losing is never fun, Wawasee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 158th, while Mishawaka is ranked 30th).
Although Wawasee took the loss, they still got scores from Derek Bontrager, Luke Keim, and Donovan Blair.
Meanwhile, South Bend Riley beat Jimtown 24-12 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for South Bend Riley.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Bend Riley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dominick Jolley, who rushed for 183 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.0 yards per carry. Jolley's longest rush was for an incredible 78 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin White, who rushed for 22 yards and two touchdowns.
Wawasee has traveled a rocky road this season, as they've lost eight of their first nine matchups, which leaves them at a 1-8 record this season. South Bend Riley has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in eight of their first nine games, giving them a 8-1 record.
