Basketball Recap: Pontotoc Comes Up Short

If Pontotoc was feeling good fresh off their 63-37 takedown of Shannon on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors lost to the DeSoto Central Jaguars on the road by a 80-63 margin on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 79-44 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Blake Price went supernova For DeSoto Central., shooting 67% from the field to rack up 24 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kenshaun Banger, who went 6-for-11 en route to 15 points.

Pontotoc's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for DeSoto Central, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Pontotoc will challenge New Albany at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for DeSoto Central, they will square off against Booneville at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
