Basketball Game Preview: Jackson Day Mariners vs. Greensboro Day School Bengals

Having just played yesterday, the Jackson Day Mariners will jump right back in to play the Greensboro Day School Bengals at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Jackson Day is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Carolina International: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Jackson Day blew Carolina International out of the water with a 79-3 final score. The Mariners have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 35 points or more this season.

Tralyn Phillips and Laylah Toscano were among the main playmakers for Jackson Day as the former went 11 for 16 en route to 25 points and five steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. The contest was Phillips' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Courtney Ashford, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 13 points and five assists.

Jackson Day was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Greensboro Day School earned a 69-58 win over Legion Collegiate Academy on Thursday.

Greensboro Day School has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Jackson Day, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7.
