Basketball Recap: Woodstock Has No Trouble Against Riverwood

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cherokee, Woodstock was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They took down the Riverwood Raiders 58-40. That looming 58-40 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wolverines yet this season.

It was another big night for Emily Jacobs, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Those 19 points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lyla Sanderson, who posted 15 points and six boards.

Woodstock smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Riverwood's loss came despite strong showings from Layne Owens and TT Demarest. Owens scored seven points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Demarest dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. Owens continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

The win got Woodstock back to even at 4-4. As for Riverwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Woodstock has already played their next game, a 46-39 loss against Sprayberry on the 12th. As for Riverwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 66-18 defeat against Creekview on the 12th.
