After a string of five wins, Antioch's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 8-4 to the Deerfield Warriors. The Sequoits were not able to make up for their loss to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

Antioch got a good showing from RJ Deguzman, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Deguzman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Antioch saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Willis, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Willis launched this season. Evan Schmidt was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Antioch's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4-1. As for Deerfield, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Looking ahead, Antioch will host Stevenson at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Deerfield, they will take on Vernon Hills at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
