Basketball Recap: Bucklin Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Bucklin had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.8 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Monday. They took down the Ashland Blue Jays 45-30. The Red Aces have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Blue Jays, too.

Despite the loss, Ashland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Britney Rodger posted 13 points and seven rebounds. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for Rodger.

Bucklin's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Ashland, they moved to 7-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bucklin will challenge Hodgeman County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Hodgeman County has won five straight at home, while Bucklin won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Ashland, they will take on South Gray at 6:30 p.m. on February 4th. South Gray will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Ashland surely won't give up without a fight.
