Preview: Churubusco Eagles vs. Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights

Churubusco is 0-1 against Fort Wayne Bishop Luers since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Churubusco Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights at 7:00 p.m. Churubusco comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.

Churubusco fell victim to Fairfield's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 33-0 loss at the hands of the Falcons. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.

Angelo Ianucilli put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 140 yards while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Ianucilli's longest rush was for an incredible 84 yards.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Fort Wayne Bishop Luers' good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Homestead by a score of 10-7. The game was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but Fort Wayne Bishop Luers couldn't answer the 3 points Homestead scored afterwards.

The losses dropped Churubusco to 2-7 and Fort Wayne Bishop Luers to 6-3.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday' match: Churubusco has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 220.3 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, though, as they've been averaging only 95.2 per game. How will Fort Wayne Bishop Luers fare against such a dominant running game?

Churubusco took a serious blow against Fort Wayne Bishop Luers in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 42-9. Can Churubusco avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
