Volleyball Recap: Monroe Takes a Loss

Monroe and McFarland squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Monroe had to settle for second. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 3-0. The Cheesemakers' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it eight in a row.

Monroe was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-15, 25-10.

Leading McFarland to victory were Talia Riemen and Maren Cheadle. Riemen had ten digs, while Cheadle had six digs. That's the most digs Cheadle has posted since back in September. Greta Olson also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 6-22. As for McFarland, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-20 record this season.

Monroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for McFarland, they will take on Edgerton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
