Softball Recap: Gresham Takes a Loss

Gresham had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 4-8 to make it four. They came up short against the Forest Grove Vikings, falling 15-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Gophers have suffered since March 21st.

As for Forest Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Forest Grove's part, Grace Arruda was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those three runs gave Arruda a new career-high. Alise Morency also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Looking ahead, Gresham will be playing in front of their home fans against Aloha at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.45 runs per game on average), something the Gophers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Forest Grove, they will head out on the road to square off against Putnam at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Kingsmen have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season.
