Basketball Recap: Cook Comes Up Short

After soaring to 64 points the game before, Cook was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They took a blow against the Crisp County Cougars, falling 76-28. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-14.

Tucker Rountree was Cook's leading scorer, having posted 11 points. Ryan Thompson J.R. held things down on the boards with five rebounds. He took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with four assists.

Leading Crisp County to victory were Zakariyya Dwight and Caden Lofton. Dwight went 7 for 13 on his way to 18 points along with four blocks and three steals, while Lofton went 6 of 9 en route to 15 points and six steals. Dwight is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 23 games he's played dating back to last season. Jaylon Cooper was another key player, putting up ten points and six steals.

Cook dropped their record down to 4-16 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Crisp County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Cook didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-52 loss against Appling County on the 30th. As for Crisp County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 106-35 win against Dooly County on the 31st.
