Softball Recap: Harper Creek's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Thursday just wasn't the day for Harper Creek's offense. They came up short against the Coldwater Cardinals on Thursday, falling 7-0. Surprisingly, this marked the Beavers' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Aleena Stahlhood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Harper Creek saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophie Kline, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Kline has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Harper Creek's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-11. As for Coldwater, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harper Creek will host Wayland at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Coldwater, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Paw Paw at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
