Basketball Recap: Norco Cougars vs. Roosevelt Mustangs
Norco lost against Roosevelt back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Norco Cougars were beaten by the Roosevelt Mustangs 96-55. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 639th, while the Mustangs are ranked second).
Norco lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ryan Ibbetson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, Ibbetson also racked up five steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Edgar Mojica was another key player, putting up 13 points.
It was another big night for Brayden Burries, who dropped a double-double on 36 points and 11 boards for Roosevelt. That makes it three consecutive games in which Burries has scored at least a third of Roosevelt's points. Another player making a difference was Myles Walker, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, 13 assists, and ten steals.
Norco has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season. As for Roosevelt, they pushed their record up to 26-2 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season.
Norco has already played their next matchup, a 64-33 defeat against Santiago on the 4th. As for Roosevelt, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 83-51 win against Centennial on the 4th.
