Swansboro and Dixon are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Swansboro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Swansboro didn't have quite enough to beat Richlands and fell 2-1. The Pirates have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Swansboro saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madilyn Lemke, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Lemke also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Dixon fell victim to West Carteret and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 1-0. Bulldogs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Patriots since on Tuesday.

Kailei Dawsey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Dixon has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Swansboro, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
