Recap: Dodge County Indians vs. Sumter County Panthers
It was a good run, but the Dodge County Indians unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 49-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sumter County. Dodge County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sumter County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Dodge County had strong showings from Lyric Green, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, and Ja"Vonna Hamilton, who scored nine points along with five rebounds. That was a full 37.8% of Dodge County's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Dodge County's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Sumter County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-6.
Dodge County will head out on the road to face off against Berrien at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Berrien will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 340th, while Dodge County is ranked 106th). As for Sumter County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Worth County at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Worth County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 36 last Friday.
