Baseball Recap: Saint Mary's Panthers vs. Albany Cougars
Saint Mary was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 12-6 to the Albany Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 last Wednesday.
Bryce Gilmore and Brandon Sanchez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gilmore scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Sanchez scored a run while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Damien Nolan, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Saint Mary's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Albany, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Saint Mary's will challenge Castro Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Albany, they will square off against Archie Williams at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
