Football Recap: Bishop Kelly Piles Up the Points Against Nampa

The matchup between Bishop Kelly and Nampa on Friday hardly resembled the 19-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Knights simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bulldogs 55-27. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho football rankings (they are ranked third, while the Bulldogs are ranked 48th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eli Lynes had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 119 yards and three scores while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Charlie Dahl helped out on the ground, rushing for 90 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Bishop Kelly didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Nik Ciovacco.

Nampa's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryland Rush, who picked up 166 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Another player making a difference was Dominick Almaraz, who threw for 273 yards and two touchdowns.

Bishop Kelly's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.8 points on average over those games. As for Nampa, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Bishop Kelly will challenge rival Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Nampa is set to take on their familiar foe Skyview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 921 yards in their previous games.
