Recap: Central Catholic Raiders vs. Sierra Timberwolves
The Central Catholic Raiders had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They strolled past Sierra with points to spare, taking the game 52-38. Given Central Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while Sierra is ranked 488th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Central Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Wentworth, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Wesley Payne, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Central Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Sierra, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.
Central Catholic will head out on the road to take on Manteca at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sierra, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Union at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. East Union is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
