Football Recap: Lipscomb Academy Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Lipscomb Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They lost 41-20 to the Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fighting Irish apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Lipscomb Academy lost, don't look at Eli Mast. Despite the final result, he threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns.

As for Knoxville Catholic, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.0 points on average this season.

Knoxville Catholic was led to victory by Mack Bartholomew and Matthew Rogers 2028 Rb. Bartholomew rushed for 61 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries, while Rogers 2028 Rb rushed for 88 yards and two TDs on only six carries. Those 61 rushing yards gave Bartholomew a new career-high.

Looking ahead, Lipscomb Academy will head out to challenge Non Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Knoxville Catholic, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Montgomery Bell Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
