Baseball Recap: Canyon Springs Comes Up Short

If Canyon Springs was feeling good fresh off their 17-1 takedown of Sunrise Mountain last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Canyon Springs lost 9-3 to the Cheyenne Desert Shields on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pioneers of the 16-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Cruz Monroy was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mychal Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Canyon Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Cheyenne, the win keeps they at an undefeated 10-0.

Canyon Springs has already played their next contest, a 17-3 victory against Pinecrest Academy Cadence on the 18th. As for Cheyenne, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 5-2 loss against Del Sol on the 18th.
