Soccer Recap: Sumter Takes a Loss

Sumter lost against West Florence back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Gamecocks took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. While losing is never fun, Sumter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 144th, while West Florence are ranked 17th).

This is the second loss in a row for Sumter and nudges their season record down to 5-13. As for West Florence, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sumter will venture away from home to challenge Gray Collegiate Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Florence, they will head out to square off against Blythewood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Florence will need to watch out since Blythewood have now posted at least four goals in their last five matches.
