Softball Preview: Bradford Tornadoes vs. Gainesville Hurricanes

Bradford has been on the road for five straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Gainesville Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bradford will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Bradford scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Monday. They came out on top against Buchholz by a score of 16-12. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.

Bradford got a big performance out of Madison Highland, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Carly Beggs, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Gainesville didn't have quite enough to beat Williston on Monday and fell 2-1. Gainesville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gainesville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Barton, who went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Even though they lost, Gainesville didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 14 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Williston only tossed six.

Bradford's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Gainesville, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-3.

Bradford came up short against Gainesville in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, falling 5-2. Can Bradford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
