Basketball Game Preview: Dunedin Falcons vs. Boca Ciega Pirates

Dunedin hasn't had much luck against Boca Ciega recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Dunedin Falcons will face off against the Boca Ciega Pirates at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Dunedin's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.

Dunedin is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 59-46 win over Nature Coast Tech.

SHERWIN SIMMONS continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 5 for 10 to rack up 20 points along with eight steals and six assists. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 23 times he's played. JALEN JACKSON was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Boca Ciega suffered their biggest loss since December 30, 2024 on Friday. They were outmatched by Gibbs and fell 69-39. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Gladiators are ranked 11th).

Dunedin will need to focus on slowing down Anthony Brown, one of several Boca Ciega players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jelani Nix Jr, who posted eight points and ten rebounds.

Boca Ciega's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Dunedin, their victory bumped their record up to 18-9.

Dunedin came up short against Boca Ciega in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 72-66. Can Dunedin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
