Recap: River Valley Vikings vs. Bishop Watterson Eagles
If the River Valley Vikings were feeling good off their 51-29 takedown of the Highland Fighting Scots on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. River Valley received a tough blow on Sunday as they fell 47-33 to Bishop Watterson. While losing is never fun, River Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while Bishop Watterson is ranked 119th).
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Halle Snyder, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexie Hecker, who scored eight points along with three steals.
River Valley now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Bishop Watterson, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
River Valley will head out on the road to face off against Granville at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Granville's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while River Valley has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. Bishop Watterson and Marysville will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Marysville is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
