Basketball Game Preview: Maryville Red Rebels vs. Science Hill Hilltoppers

The Maryville Red Rebels will head out on the road to challenge the Science Hill Hilltoppers on Monday. Maryville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matches -- so hopefully Science Hill likes a good challenge.

Maryville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Tennessee's top teams: Oak Ridge, who was ranked 14th at the time (Maryville was ranked 12th). Maryville took a 64-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oak Ridge on Thursday. The Red Rebels' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Science Hill entered their tilt with Sevier County on Thursday with eight consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with nine. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 71-66 W against the Smoky Bears.

Science Hill's win bumped their record up to 26-6. As for Maryville, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-12.

Maryville strolled past Science Hill in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 67-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Maryville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
