League recap: Cherokee scores huge upset over Andrews

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Cherokee, who took down 329th ranked Andrews, 34-23.

Swain County extended the longest winning streak in 1A Smoky Mountain this week by beating Rosman, 55-7. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Maroon Devils.

Hayesville's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zach Wall threw for 37 yards and Matt Danielson had 19 yards receiving. On the ground Dylan Williams chipped in 29 yards. Isaac Mills helped Hayesville's passing attack out by catching one ball for 17 yards.

Swain County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Maroon Devils feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Ray Smith has thrown for 1332 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Greg Tisho has 33 catches for 779 yards. Garrett Lane leads the league in rushing with 639 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Swain County takes on second place Murphy. Swain County defeated the Tigers last week, while Murphy topped the Yellowjackets.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Bulldogs take on Neil Blankenship's team. Murphy has allowed 173 points this season, while the Maroon Devils have given up 110. David Gentry's team allowed 0 points last week as it defeated Hayesville.

The Bulldogs took down Ernie Hughes' team 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
